We have entered our 100% sustainable design material ECOR for the 2013 Cradle to Cradle Product Innovation Challenge.
The Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute and the Make It Right Foundation are challenging manufacturers to design a product for the affordable housing market that is safe for human and environmental health and is designed for re-use. The three finalists will be announced September 16, 2013.
ECOR is the perfect product for the challenge: it is certified 100% bio based by the US Department of Agriculture; it has no voc off-gassing; and it is both easily reused and completely recyclable. What better housing product for human and environmental health than an ECOR E-Hut made from 100% recycled waste panels that are completely non toxic and require little-to-no carbon footprint to produce and ship?
We envision a future in which we are using ONLY renewable and recycled materials for construction. Our goal is to completely reinvent the construction industry to preserve the 40% of global raw materials we currently use for buildings around the world. We want to eliminate construction waste – which constitutes over 30% of all the waste generated in the US. With ECOR, for the first time in history, this goal is entirely achievable.
