Independent testing confirms E0 emissions classification weeks ahead of the European Union’s August 2026 deadline.
KRALJEVO, Serbia — July 27, 2026 — ECOR Global, a manufacturer of bio-based composite panels made from recycled agricultural and post-production waste fibers, today confirmed that its flagship ECOR-1 panel meets the European Union’s E0 formaldehyde emissions classification—the strictest tier in the industry—ahead of the EU’s August 2026 compliance deadline under Regulation (EU) 2023/1464.
The confirmation comes as the global wood-panel industry undergoes a major regulatory shift. Used by panel manufacturers for seven decades, formaldehyde is a toxic, flammable gas and established human carcinogen capable of causing severe respiratory damage and cancer even at low exposure levels. The EU’s updated formaldehyde restriction requires manufacturers across the sector to reformulate toward the E0 standard or risk exiting the European market.
While many companies are still working to meet compliance, ECOR Global’s panels already clear the threshold, validated through third-party testing rather than internal self-declaration.
ECOR-1 is bound entirely by water, heat, and pressure, which activates the natural lignin inherent in its recycled raw materials. No resin, urea-formaldehyde, or isocyanates are added at any stage of production. Because no synthetic binders are introduced, there is nothing to off-gas.
Independent testing conducted by SGS Institut Fresenius using the DIN EN 717-1 chamber method measured formaldehyde emissions at 0.007 mg/m³- more than 10 times lower than the EU’s strict 0.08 mg/m³ limit (SGS Institut Fresenius Report #8090001).
